2012 release, the first studio album by the British Mod icons in over 30 years. Secret Affair played a leading role in the Mod Revival scene of 1979 and went on to release three successful albums on their own label I-Spy Records. They are most remembered for their hit single 'Time For Action', which sold over 250,000 copies in the UK alone, followed by hit singles 'Let Your Heart Dance,' 'My World' and 'Sound Of Confusion'. This current lineup of the band is led by original band leaders Ian Page (vocals) and Dave Cairns (guitar).
This give to us some advantages, like this :
1. Glorious surprise
Secret Affair has always been a band that's lived up to its name. Despite their phenomenal talent it's a band who's been most fervently embraced by their underground followers. But now in addition to being secretive they're even more surprising. This album is astoundingly good. Who could've expected such a thing for a band whose last LP was released 30 years ago? The talent remains, though. Ian Page's voice still soars, and Cairns and company provided the anthems to match. Now instead of brash young men so scared of getting old and believing that looking good is the answer as they did so long ago, they're grown men making music that's just as beautiful and inspiring, but that's also wiser.
It's tempting to break down each track's excellence, but take it from a stunned Secret Affair fan that this album is just as good as any of their previous releases in every way. I've heard it a dozen times now according to iTunes, and I simply can't get enough. That one-in-a-million...
