CH3

After some great releases in the early '80s on Posh Boy Records (collected on CD as The Skinhead Years), the Channel 3 boys tossed their punk roots aside for an ill-fated excursion into beer-soaked roots rock with their "Last Time I Drank..." album in the mid-'80s, then quickly sank without a trace. this is good listen, granted; much more so than alot of the "revival punk" slop that's being thrown around from 70's and 80's has-beens and never-weres. curiosity from their first albums was the main selling point for this one, and i have to say i wasn't let down - too bad that if they had never been heard of in the 80's this record would either be getting slammed as an "i've heard this a thousand times" release or not being paid any attention at all. if you're looking for a slightly extended walk down memory lane with a couple new forks in the road, jump on it. if you're looking for a real punk rock record - punk rock in the sense of breaking new ground - stop looking at the milkers from 20 years ago and dig deeper into the bands that are pushing the limits of today but getting pushed aside by re-animated corpses of groups that are riding out the "old school punk trend" while they can make a buck. after all, who needs to hear another band push the limits...
